Projects

OERC has successfully handled several Turnkey consultancy projects since its inception in June 1999:

  • Writing the complete documentation for Government of Maldives and piloting the same through STCW committee of IMO and obtain 'White List Status' for Maldives.
  • Preparing a project for comprehensive Marine Education and Training centre for Bombay Science Research Institute, Mumbai, including obtaining approvals from the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India
  • We have also been instrumental in helping the Mumbai University and PVPP College of Engineering to start the first ever 4-Year B.E. Marine Engineering Course in 2002. Our Team members were on the Syllabus Committee / Board of Studies which drafted the syllabus. Subsequently in 2007-2008, we have helped the University upgrade and amend the syllabus – our team members have again been on the Board of Studies / Syllabus Committee for the same. We have helped the PVPP College of Engineering to run their Marine Engineering Course as a consultancy from 2002 to 2009. We provided the faculty, the Head of the Department, the Officer In Charge and monitored the course on a Day to Day basis and helped place the successful students.
  • Apart from these courses, we have provided consultancy for providing training for sponsored Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering graduate candidates from M/S Larsen and Toubro and M/S Rolta to train them as Naval Architects and Ship Builders from 2005 onwards. Many of our alumni are working, and are much sought after, as ship designers in India and abroad.
  • We have also helped the University of Mumbai to start the first ever 'Post Graduate Advanced Diploma in Naval Architecture and Ship Building'. This is a unique course started first time in India, to overcome the acute shortage of Naval Architects in India. Here again, we proposed the course to the University and our Team Members were part of the Syllabus Committee and drafted the Scheme of Examinations and the Syllabus for the Course.
  • Our team members are presently executing a consultancy project at the Indian Maritime University (IMU), Vishakhapatnam campus, to design and supervise the construction of the 'Circulating Water Channel' for the 'Flow around Ships in a Hydrodynamic Test Facility'.
